A national tea trading centre boasting modern trade practices including tea auctions and time bargaining is expected to be built in Guangzhou, proposed by the Research Department of Industrial Economy under the Development Research Center of the State Council at the Forum on sustainable development of China's tea industry recently held in Guangzhou. With the national tea trading center to be completed, Guangzhou will again become a global tea trading centre as it was a century ago.
The tea trading center would be located at Kuipeng, an unoccupied place south of the Fangcun Tea Market in Liwan District. As China's modern tea trading platform, the operation of the tea trading center would surely speed up development of the Fangcun Tea Market.
Lan Xiaohuan, Deputy Chief of Liwan District, said on April 13th that the tea trading center would be built into another electronic trading platform, following the Guangdong Plastic Exchange.
