A statue of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, German poet and dramatist, landed in Liu Hua Hu Park in Guangzhou after 4 days of journey from Frankfurt, Germany.
The bronze bust; weighing 70 kilograms, was a gift from Frankfurt to Guangzhou to mark the 20th anniversary since they paired up as friendly cities, Guangzhou Daily reported on Thursday.
Petra Roth, Mayor of Frankfurt, together with Su Zequn, Vice-Mayor of Guangzhou, unveiled the statue on Wednesday.
Frankfurt has presented many gifts to Guangzhou including a children's park and several baboons to Guangzhou Zoo, providing many chances for Guangzhou citizens to know Frankfurt and its people's hospitality, Su Zequn said at the unveiling ceremony.
The statue was exactly the same with the one in Frankfurt City Hall, the newspaper said.
