The 2006 "Root-seeking Summer Camp in China", cosponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and China Overseas Exchanges Association, was kicked off in Beijing on 16th July 2006.

The 5-day summer camp hosted around 5 thousand teenager campers including overseas Chinese teenagers from different countries over the world and teenagers from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. In the 5-day program, campers were organized to visit many historic sites in Beijing such as the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Great Wall, Chang Tomb, etc. and watch the performance of Chinese Kong Fu, Dragon Dance and traditional Chinese folk dance, etc. All camp members showed great interests to the long standing Chinese history through various cultural activities, making them better understand China¡¯s history, enhance their knowledge about the great changes taking place in China and be so proud of their Chinese origin,

The Roots Seeking Summer Camp was completed with a spectacular party on the night of 19th July. The summer camp turned out to be a great success. Every camper said that the summer camp was such an unforgettable and joyful experiences in their life and wished to come back to relive them as soon as possible.
