Representatives from home and abroad are planting Kapok trees
Guangzhou Sister Cities Joint Meeting opened on March 14 at the Garden Hotel, Guangzhou. About 100 representatives attended the meeting, including directors of Foreign Affairs Offices and chairmen of Friendship Associations from 26 of Guangzhou's sister cities and friendship cities in 22 countries across the world.
Officials from the Development and Reform Commission of Guangzhou Municipality made an overall introduction to economic development of Guangzhou. Then, 26 representatives from Guangzhou's sister cities and friendship cities, in turns, gave speeches on features and advantages of each city and achievements concerning collaborative projects with Guangzhou. Besides, a number of representatives congratulated Mayor Zhang Guangning who was elected as chairman of the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in last October.
Vice Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipality Tang Hanghao attended the meeting and delivered a summing-up speech, saying through this meeting representatives could share information, promote friendship and reach draft agreements on future mutual development.
On the morning of 14th, all the representatives planted two Kapok trees which stand for friendship between all sister cities.
